By default, Windows 8 has only one main partition C. But we can add a new partition.

Open the Control Panel in Small icons style, Click Administrative Tools -> Computer Management -> Storage -> Disk Management.

Select C: volume, click Action -> All Tasks -> Shrink Volume. Assign the size you will to shrink, e.g. 50,000 MB.

There will be a 50,000MB new volume on Disk 0, right click on it, select proterties to assign volume name and format.
