K2Cr2O7 is a orange to red crystalline. Its melting point is 398 ̊C (748.4 ̊F), density 2.676 g/cm3. K2Cr2O7 is toxic. K2Cr2O7 is commonly used in titration analysis of ferrous compounds. It's also widely used in painting, printing etc.
Example Reactions:
• 3H2S + K2Cr2O7 + 4H2SO4 = Cr2(SO4)3 + K2SO4 + 3S + 7H2O
• K2Cr2O7 + 6KI + 7H2SO4 = 4K2SO4 + Cr2(SO4)3 + 3I2 + 7H2O
• 14HCl + K2Cr2O7 = 2KCl + 2CrCl3 + 3Cl2 + 7H2O
• Pb(NO3)2 + K2Cr2O7 = PbCr2O7 + 2KNO3
• K2Cr2O7 + 6FeSO4 + 7H2SO4 = 3Fe2(SO4)3 + Cr2(SO4)3 + K2SO4 + 7H2O
• K2Cr2O7 + 6NaI + 7H2SO4 = Cr2(SO4)3 + 3I2 + 3Na2SO4 + K2SO4 + 7H2O
• 2HCl + 2K2CrO4 = K2Cr2O7 + 2KCl + H2O
• K2Cr2O7 + 3SnCl2 + 14HCl = 2CrCl3 + 3SnCl4 + 2KCl + 7H2O
• 2K2CrO4 + H2SO4 = K2Cr2O7 + K2SO4 + H2O
• K2Cr2O7 + 2AgNO3 = Ag2Cr2O7↓ + 2KNO3
