PbO2 is a dark brown crystalline. Its melting point is 290 ̊C (554 ̊F), density 9.38 g/cm3. PbO2 is used in many fields, such as an oxidising agent, making lead-acid battery, explosives etc.
Example Reactions:
• Pb(OH)4 + 2Cu2O = PbO2 + 4CuOH
• Pb3O4 + 4HNO3 = 2Pb(NO3)2 + PbO2 + 2H2O
• Pb + PbO2 + 2H2SO4 = 2H2O + 2PbSO4↓
• PbO2 + 4HCl = PbCl2 + Cl2 + 2H2O
• PbO2 + 2H2SO4 = Pb(SO4)2 + 2H2O
• 4NaCl + PbO2 = 2Na2O + PbCl4
• Pb(CO3)2 = PbO2 + 2CO2
• PbO2 + 2Mg(CN)2 = Pb(CN)4 + 2MgO
• PbO2 + 2H2S = PbS2 + 2H2O
• 2Br2 + PbO2 = PbBr4 + O2
