CuSO4 is a gray white powder. Its melting point is 110 ̊C (230 ̊F), density 3.6 g/cm3. CuSO4 can be used as herbicide, fungicide and pesticide. CuSO4 may cause burns to eye and skin. It may cause digestive tract irratation if swallowed. Its most common hydrated form CuSO4.5H2O has a blue color.
Example Reactions:
• CuSO4 = CuO + SO3
• Fe + CuSO4 = Cu + FeSO4
• 2HCN + CuSO4 = H2SO4 + Cu(CN)2
• CuO + H2SO4 = CuSO4 + H2O
• CuSO4 + 2NaOH = Cu(OH)2↓ + Na2SO4
• Cu + 2H2SO4 = CuSO4 + 2H2O + SO2
• Na2CO3 + CuSO4 = Na2SO4 + CuCO3↓
• Mg + CuSO4 = MgSO4 + Cu
• BaCl2 + CuSO4 = CuCl2 + BaSO4↓
• Pb(NO3)2 + CuSO4 = PbSO4↓ + Cu(NO3)2
