Ba(OH)2.8H2O is a colorless crystal at room temperature. It is soluble in water. Its melting point is 78 ̊C (172.4 ̊F), boiling point 780 ̊C (1436 ̊F), density 2.18 g/cm3. Ba(OH)2 can be used in titration as an indicator for weak acid. Ba(OH)2.8H2O is corrosive, may cause burns to eye and skin. It may cause digestive tract irratation if swallowed.
