SiO2 is a colorless crystalline. It is barely soluble. Its melting point is 1710 ̊C (3110 ̊F), boiling point 2230 ̊C (4046 ̊F), density 2.65 g/cm3. Also known as silica, is the main component of sand, and naturally exists as quartz. SiO2 is widely used in the industry, such as ceramic, porcelain, glass, optics.

Example Reactions:
• 4HF + SiO2 = SiF4 + 2H2O
• 2KCl + H2O + SiO2 = 2HCl + K2SiO3
• 2CO2 + CaSiO3 + H2O = SiO2 + Ca(HCO3)2
• SiO2 + 3C = SiC + 2CO
• SiO2 + Ca(OH)2 = CaSiO3 + H2O
• SiO2 + 4HCl = SiCl4 + 2H2O
• 2H2O + SiO2 = Si(OH)4
• 2XeF6 + SiO2 = 2XeOF4 + SiF4
• SiO2 + Na2CO3 = Na2SiO3 + CO2
• 6HF + SiO2 = H2SiF6 + 2H2O
