N2O3 is a blue liquid or gas with strong unpleasant odor. Its boiling point is 3.5 ̊C (38.3 ̊F), density 1.45 g/cm3. N2O3 is very toxic and corrosive. N2O3 reacts with water, the product is nitrous acid (HNO2).

Example Reactions:
• H2O + N2O3 = 2HNO2
• 2Cu + 6HNO3 = N2O3 + 2Cu(NO3)2 + 3H2O
• Na2O2 + N2O3 = NaNO2 + NaNO3
• 3SnO + 2NF3 = 3SnF2 + N2O3
• 2NH3 + 3O2 = N2O3 + 3H2O
• 4NO2 + H2O = 2HNO3 + N2O3
• 2NH3 + 3H2O = N2O3 + 6H2
• H2O + 2SO2 + 2HNO3 = 2H2SO4 + N2O3
