KI is a white crystal. Its melting point is 681 ̊C (1257.8 ̊F), boiling point 1330 ̊C (2426 ̊F), density 3.123 g/cm3. KI has very important applications in industry and medical fields, e.g. to make AgI for film photography or used as regulating agent for thyroid secretion.
Example Reactions:
• AgNO3 + KI = AgI↓ + KNO3
• KI + NaCl = KCl + NaI
• KOH + NH4I = NH3 + KI + H2O
• HI + KOH = H2O + KI
• HCl + KI = HI + KCl
• KI + NaOH = KOH + NaI
• H3PO4 + KI = HI + KH2PO4
• HI + KHCO3 = CO2 + H2O + KI
• HNO3 + KI = KNO3 + HI
• KBr + NaI = KI + NaBr
