FeCl3 is a orange to black solid. It is poorly soluble in water. Its melting point is 306 ̊C (582.8 ̊F), density 2.9 g/cm3. FeCl3 can be used to purify water, treat sewage etc.

Example Reactions:
• FeCl3 + 3NaOH = Fe(OH)3 + 3NaCl
• FeCl3 + 3NH4OH = Fe(OH)3 + 3NH4Cl
• FeCl3 + Na3PO4 = FePO4 + 3NaCl
• FeCl3 + 3KOH = Fe(OH)3 + 3KCl
• FeCl3 + 3AgNO3 = 3AgCl + Fe(NO3)3
• FeCl3 + 3KSCN = Fe(SCN)3 + 3KCl
• FeCl3 + 3KI = FeI3 + 3KCl
• FeCl3 + 3H2O = 3HCl + Fe(OH)3
• FeCl3 + Pb(NO3)2 = Fe(NO3)2 + PbCl3
• FeCl3 + 3LiOH = Fe(OH)3 + 3LiCl
