BaCl2 is a white powder. Its melting point is 962 ̊C (1763.6 ̊F), boiling point 1560 ̊C (2840 ̊F), density 3.86 g/cm3. BaCl2 is toxic. BaCl2 can be used in stomach X-ray examination, water purification etc.

Example Reactions:
• Cl2 + Ba = BaCl2
• 2NaCl + Ba(NO3)2 = 2NaNO3 + BaCl2
• BaCl2 + Na2SO4 = BaSO4 + 2NaCl
• BaCl2 + H2SO4 = BaSO4 + 2HCl
• 2AgNO3 + BaCl2 = 2AgCl + Ba(NO3)2
• Ba(OH)2 + 2HCl = BaCl2 + 2H2O
• BaCl2 + Na2CO3 = 2NaCl + BaCO3
• BaCl2 + CuSO4 = CuCl2 + BaSO4
• BaCl2 + K2SO4 = BaSO4 + 2KCl
• BaCl2 + Li2SO4 = 2LiCl + BaSO4
